What is a Quality Management System (QMS)?

“A system by which an organisation aims to reduce and eventually eliminate non-conformance to specifications, standards, and customer expectations in the most cost effective and efficient manner.”

“A set of co-ordinated activities to direct and control an organisation in order to continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its performance.”

Your Quality Management System for wholesale and good distribution practice will include your standard operating procedures and outline change management, handling deviations, and CAPA (corrective action, preventative action) as well as everything else in between.

Your Quality System is the backbone of your operation and lays out everything you do, and should be in a language easily understood by personnel and help you ensure product quality and patient safety. Building a great QMS can take weeks, months or years, and should be subject to regular review and continual improvement with self-inspections occurring at least annually.
